In the 1995 Spring/Summer edition of Jaycee Magazine, an article was published with the 75 ways that Jaycees have changed America. It is nice reading about things that Jaycees from all over the US have accomplished and thought that we should publish it again.

The North Columbus Jaycees are in our busiest season of the year.

On November 20, we delivered Thanksgiving food baskets to 14 needy families in the North Columbus area. My thanks go out to our project chair, Elizabeth Pagano for taking on the project. Thanks are also in order to Jacob Shaw and Giant Eagle of Dublin for their generous donation of a pallet of GIGANTIC turkeys, and Grand Master Tony Cuzzolini and the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus council 14093 for their generous cash donation.

Connie Skaggs, Kelly Kassor and Sharon Arnold spent most of the day on Sunday, December 4 baking cookies for our Cookies for Rookies project, a project that gives fresh cookies and other baked delights to local police and fire stations. The ladies were assisted by Maria Graham, Daniella Graham, Mimi Shank, Ted Shank, Zack Kassor, Elisa Skaggs and Lilli Townsend. Cookies were delivered to five fire stations and one police station on Monday December 5 by Santa Clause and his elves. Ted Shank played the part of Santa. His elves included Clara Hernandez, Kelly, Mimi, Connie, Elisa and Sharon. Pulling the sleigh was Santa’s sole reindeer on this trip, Zack Kassor.

The weekend of December 10 and 11 will be our annual Resident’s Christmas parties. Elizabeth Pagano is chairing this event as well. The event is financed by the JC Housing Boards. We have lined up a very special musical guest, Mr. Terry Efaw of McGuffey Lane, to entertain the residents with his unique and stirring acoustic guitar versions of Christmas classics! Our chapter is adopting 3 families for Christmas this year. We will be meeting at JCV at 7pm on Thursday, December 15 to do our shopping. We will deliver on Sunday, December 18. Adopt a family this year will include Christmas dinner, any needed clothing or outerwear items, and a few toys for the children. It is the season of giving, and North Columbus is good at it!

A final note – our year end banquet will be held on Sunday, January 8, at 7 pm. The location will be the Casa Hacienda Grill at 1264 East Dublin Granville Road Columbus, Ohio 43229. Please come join us as we celebrate the end of a successful year and recognize those who contributed to our organization!

Fall Soap Box Derby

Come join us at Big Run Park for the Fall Soap Box Derby Rally this Saturday and Sunday! We’ll be meeting at 8:30 am at the Derby Hill in Big Run Park, and we will hang out, cook out and have a good time – oh and we’ll load a few cars now and then too!

This is the final Derby of the year, so if you need a ride or more details, please let us know!
